National Action Network Convention
Assistant Events & Social Media Coordinator
Fireside Chat with Rev. Al Sharpton and Former Vice President Kamala Harris
What Did I Do?
The National Action Network National Convention is an annual four-day gathering at the Sheraton Times Square in New York City, bringing together some of the country's most prominent civil rights leaders, elected officials, academics, and activists to strategize on advancing justice, protecting voting rights, and addressing economic inequality affecting Black and Brown communities.
I joined the conference staff from April 8 through April 11, 2026, working directly under Ashley Sharpton, Founder of NAN Youth Huddle and Sharpton Entertainment. Each morning I reported to Ashley and received my assignments for the day, covering the events and sessions she needed documented or livestreamed while she managed behind-the-scenes coordination. My responsibilities included operating livestreams, capturing photo and video content, and publishing across NAN's social media channels.
The events I covered include:
Fireside Chat: Rev. Al Sharpton and Kamala Harris
Fireside Chat: Rev. Al Sharpton and Wes Moore
Fireside Chat: Rev. Al Sharpton and JB Pritzker
Legacy Talks: Moderated by Ashley Sharpton
Women’s Empowerment Luncheon: Featuring keynote speaker Ayanna Pressley
Critical Conversations with Scholars: Featuring Dr. Tecoy Porter Sr., Michael Eric Dyson, Christina Greer, and Darrick Hamilton
Artivism Fashion and Talent Showcase: Honoring designer Sergio Hudson
In addition to my regular duties, I was also featured as a guest speaker on Keeping It Real with Rev. Al Sharpton, discussing the youth and college day event and the importance of HBCU culture to the social justice movement.
